In a rambling address to the Florida Chamber of Commerce, candidate for Governor, Ron Desantis, threatened members of the free market business community in Orlando this week. In a scathing twitter thread, Miami Herald Capitol Bureau Chief, Mary Ellen Klas published all the notable quotes of the tax-raising gubernatorial candidate this Friday.
The most dangerous part of DeSantis’ tirade was his threat to use the office of the Governorship to ruin the economic future of small businesses and corporations.
In response to the growing number of job creators embracing the freedom to mask and vaccinate, the wanna-be autocrat stated:
“I got a podium. I got cameras that will follow me around. Maybe I’ll go talk about that a little bit…”
-Ron DeSantis
Small businesses understand that their economic success is universally tied to healthy workers and unquarantined consumers. But the ‘Mango Mussolini’ imitator has always valued his personal political ambitions at the expense of ‘free market’ conservatism. Private businesses have the right to set their own rules for service as long as the policies do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, disability, and sexual orientation. So a restaurant can require a mask just as they require a shirt and shoes.
Common sense Floridians understand this. It’s not rocket science. The Q-Anon Candidate for Governor wants to pit business owners against consumers, employees against employers, and parents against teachers because he knows that if we are fighting amongst each other, he can run off, unnoticed, with the fruits of our labor.
Florida we have options. We Make Florida, and we’re ready to build a state that serves the health and well-being of everyone, no exceptions. There is only one way to ensure that we have a Governor that values our economic freedom over Fox News appearances. We have the power to do it. We can elect a leader who puts our needs above their own political career. We have candidates that value public service above rich donors. See below for links to strong candidates running to lead the state of Florida in funding our future.
